JF,

The main thing you need to do is insure you torque both the head down in the proper sequence and the proper PSI...i believe yours is 100 - 110 psi.

When i did mine MT [same engine exactly except for a very few internal parts], i torqued @ 95psi, then the head/block had some places that leaked...so i have to re-torque and went to 106psi.

You can spray some silver paint on the head gasket, both sides. The idea is to create the slightest possible gap filler, but nothing any thicker that would create an imbalance at all, anywhere.

Rob, you must be thinking of something else when you stated you did not put a gasket between the head and block...if not, you have the finest machined head and block in the country...

regards,
tstex

Also, I forgot to mention that I don't put ANY SEALER on my gasket, NOT having no gasket.

Whoa, before you get yourself in a fix, Torque is measured in FOOT POUNDS (lb/ft), not PSI (POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH). PSI is used for pressures within a certain volume.

10-4 on the torque...lbs is correct, just a quick oversight...

also, i was kidding you with the gasket thing...the 100-110 lbs is correct thought - thank rob
