How can I get these hubs off?

I'll never do it like this, will I? I drilled a hole into the central cavity where there are no splines. I filled that with PB Blaster and plugged the hole. It took 2/3 of a can. It has been soaking for a couple weeks. The puller is an OTC 17 ton push puller. It is a nice setup but obviously not enough for this job. The cast wheel disks are cracked on this 830. I have a good set to put on. But they still have the axles in them too. I can just pull the axles with the wheels on them and change them that way. But I'd rather get everything apart if possible. Any suggestions? Just how powerful of a press does it take?

I worked in an set-up shop for 20 years and never failed to get a hub loose. The method I figured out is to tighten the wedge loosen bolts as much as possibe and smack the side (not the end) of the Axle (not the hub) with a sledge a few times and retighten, repeat the process several times be careful not to hit the teeth on the axle and wear a mask as chunks of the sledge may fly but you will not hurt the axle as it is harder than the hinges of you know what. Most ideal of course is if the axle sticks out beyond the hub, but it also works if you smack the axle inside the wheel, remember to keep tightening the wedge loosen bolts, and don't be afraid to really whang the axle. You will actually be able to hear the sound difference when it pops loose. This method sets up a greater vibration in the clamp area.

Just removed two of those cast centers from a parts 820. One came off real easy. The other one was another story. We put a 20 ton hydraulic jack on the outside, using a chain thru the holes in the cast center. (Ended up stretching the chain.) Then used two 10 ton hydraulic jacks on the inside, against the axles housing, pushing on the wheel, which had two wheel weights on it. We continually jacked all three at the same time and it finally started to slowly move. We tried the shock treatment but it didn't seem to help. You may just break the cast center since it is already cracked.

You need to give that casting a shock to make it pop loose. If I were set up to the point that you are now I would take an old axel I have from a 50 and use it as a battering ram and strike that ridge on the casting around the axel. A sledge hammer might work too but its easier to direct the blow with a battering ram.

Lube the threads of that puller really good and the faces of the nut and thrust washer too. This will help give more force. Tighten it up and then whack the end of it. You would likely have better luck with a hyd. puller set up like you have that one. They give more force. Those threaded pullers seem to loose alot in the friction it takes to turn them.
