When the tractors shut down the ONLY VR post that should be hot are the BAT and the LOAD terminals ifffff ffff it has that extra 4th L terminal, otherwise the BAT terminal ONLY. If she was shut down and if you remove n re attach the wire from the VR"s BAT terminal she sparks, there must be a current draw somewhere that would drain the battery. A bad cell can drain a battery also even if theres no tractor problem, you might wanna have a shop test it. If you were to remove the hot ungrounded battery cable and attach a test lamp lead to the bare battery post and probe around with the other test lamp lead (the sharp point end) it will light up if youre on a place that has a good current return path to frame ground. If the VR;s cutout relay stuck closed (supposed to open at shutdown) that will cause a high discharge current n heat up the genny and drain the battery reallyyyyy y fast instead of a day or two slow trickle discharge which is more like a minor high resistance short somewhere.

You have a 3 (BAT ARM FLD) or 4 terminal (BAT ARM FLD LOAD) VR ????? ???? cuz they wire a lil diferent ya know.

If you remove a batery cable n she still trickle discharges it must be a bad battery but if she stays up when disconnected but discharges if connected to the tractor, sounds like a short or wiring problem or a VR problem.... If she stops draining off were you to remove the wire from the VR"s BAT terminal (its hot dont let it short to frame ground) then the short must be in the VR or downstream from it. When using the test lamp procedure above, if it lights up when the hot ungrounded battery cable is removed and the lamps lead is on the bare battery post and the probe tip is on the bare VR BAT terminal, that means its getting a ground somewhere from there which will drain the battery.....

Id expect more of a high resistance minor short then a VR problem now if she dont discharge when unhooked..... .. get the test lamp out n look for shorts but it amy take a voltmeter cuz if the short is very high resistive the lamp might not glow too bright. Id troubleshoot and unhook loads one at a time like the lighting circuits and ignition circuits to try n see where the bleed is.

all the grounds are good I uesd the test light like you said no spark when I removed and re atached the bat term or the load term or the VR, so yes Iam thinking maybe my switch ,I can use an ohm meter to check resitants betweem terms and houing ?
