I have a John Deere 350-B dozer that will not idle smooth, it really sounds like it is missing. All the way from an idle to full throtle it cuts out. The thing is, when you put it under a load, it sounds just fine. I found a piece of what looked like a hard rubber gasket on the return line from the injectors. The valve clearness is good, and I have put new injectors & filters in. I have also blown out all of the lines. I have run out of things to check, could you give me some more ideas!!!

I have a JD 350 b it also sounded like it was missing all the time even after complete rebuild. this week end I found the air filter breather tube that goes up through the hood had been pushed down onto the air filter cutting off the air supply, there is a plastic thing around the filter that almost cut off the air supply. pull the front off the filter housing and look bach through with a flash light, there should be about 1/2 inch clearence. mine was about less than 1/8 inch. I removed the entire filter canister and tube put it over a large diameter pipe and hammered it bach into the original position. good luck. I have been having a bad time with steering clutches, they won't stay adjusted. new set of clutches and brakes didn't last 50 hours. slipping again.

That piece of rubber you found is what is left of the govinor ring in the injector pump. They get hard over time and then break up sometimes plugging the return lines and stopping the eng.Idle is eractic as well.

I have a 350 JD, not a B, and mine started missing one time and I changed filters, cleaned the tank, and it still missed. I thought I was in for some seriously expensive repairs, when it dawned on me to make sure that the fuel pump, not the injector pump, was holding good pressure. My local NAPA store had the pump for about $45 and when I put it on it solved it. That may not be your problem but before I started yanking injectors and fooling around with the injector pump, I would check the fuel pump mounted on the block that runs off of the cam.
