I have taken the head off of my 36 B and found that it has a cast iron insert in each cylinder. My neighbor said he thought they were made by M&W but not to many people that I have asked has ever seen these before. Does anybody have any information on these?

My father had a set of these installed in our 39B which sorely needed more power as we pulled a 7ft. disk and used 2-14 in. pull type plow. I couldn't realize any more power, and it made the tractor run hot under a load.

Jeremy,
Your inserts were made by the Hollingsworth company in Ollie, IA, and were patented by Raphael Hollingsworth in 1948. His health deteriorated by 1956 and he died in 1961. Inserts were available for models A, B, G, D, and H as well as for Allis Chalmers and Farmall tractors. The idea was a cheap increase in compression to gain power. The same head, head gasket, etc. were used - just removed to install the inserts. They cost about $25 a pair. They were marketed by Tractor Supply for a couple of years prior to their Power Block, and were not sold by Central Tractor, the other big parts company.
