Disaster or no big deal?

The tractor is a JD 401c with power steering. The ps valve assemble has been removed because it was leaking, I believe I can get a replacement part for this. The issue is that there is a small piece missing from the casting that the assemble casing bolts to. the piece missing is about the size of a small fingernail and is at the large hole where the steering valve passes through the casting. (enlarges that hole a little) There is still plenty of surface for the gasket to seal the junction between the casing and the casting. Is this a problem or no big deal as long as I can get a good seal? I have a photo but don"t know how to get it to show up on the forum. I can email it to anyone that would like to help. Thanks
Joe

Joe if my memory is correct the only place that could cause a problem is tha area that has a o-ring/quad-ring to seal between valve and clutch housing for return oil to sump. Tx Jim

If I remember correctly, The oil is sealed in the steering valve by the O-rings on the inside and outside of the large steel ring that fits in the bottom of the steering valve housing. If you are saying the blemish is in the clutch/transmission housing, no problem.
