I have done several steering wheels with bondo and been pretty successful. I think the flat spoke has a pattern of lines on it if I am not mistaken. If so I would think the deal Duane Larson talked about would be best.

I just experimented on an old steering wheel using PRO-POXY steel repair. It comes in the tube and you have to knead it together. I first glass beaded the original covering to get it cleaned up and then just pressed the putty into all the cracks leaving it a little high. In 20 minutes it was ready to be filed and shaped. Finished sanded it with a drywall sanding sponge, then used sanding primer-sealer, finished sanded then painted with JD med-gloss black. It looks good now, but it may not last. I guess time will tell. I put it on my US G and it shakes pretty good. This was a lot cheaper than the $87 kit from POR-15. I figure I got about $10 in it.

40 JD G,
Another option would be a replacement wheel. This site offers a flat spoke stepped hub steering wheel for the unstyled B for about $38 if that would work for you. On the top left of this page click on Tractor Parts and go from there.

However, I agree Minn-Kota does good work rebuilding them. www.minnkotarepair.com.

Pat Browning did a nice job on his flat spoked steering wheel using Bondo and Plasti-Dip. Go to his web page at Link scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Unstyled HNH Tractor. Click on Here & There, then Auxillary Systems. The steering wheel repair is on the first few pages.

If it was me, I would look into the antique automotive industry. There is a bigger market for what you are trying to obtain. I have never looked myself, but that is where I would start. I have a few late styled steering wheels I am thinking about repairing but have to build a mold first.
