I recently bought a JD 401c and would like to buy a service manual for it. I thought I would start with a $32 one and if thats not enough buy the JD manual for $200. The lower cost manuals do not list the 401c so I need to know what tractor this is a varient of if any? Thanks

Wasn't a 401 C a little newer tractor than the 2020? I know there was a 401 D made up into the 90's. Not sure exactly what years the C version was built but there are a lot of years between the 2020 (1960s) and those late 401 Ds (1990s). Might want to check with a dealer to be sure.

Incidentally, does anyone know when they made the first and last 301 and 401 models? Seems like they made the 401 longer, but I really don't know for sure.
