Hate to be a bother but i"m just about stumped. Had everything working on the 400 except for the brakes, so i pulled the brake control assembly along with the reverser. Just set the reverser aside and didn"t mess with it at all. Got it all reassembled and went to test it out this past week due to 6 inches of snow and now while the brakes work it will not move either forward or reverse. All other hydraulic functions work just fine. I can however shift gears without using the clutch without any grinding (that can"t be good) I thought that if the clutch crapped out that the charge pump could not run and my hydraulics wouldn"t function?? I need to pick up a pressure gauge for the test ports on the reverser but initial observations with the tractor off is that fluid slowly escapes the front plug hole while the back plug hole is bone dry. Fluid and filters are new. Any thoughts????

thanks for the reply in reply to scooter01922, 12-09-2007 16:23:58
Thanks for the reply. Supposed to get a noreaster in a few days so getting this fixed sure would be nice. The 2 ports i'm referring to are the test ports on the top of the reverser. Just though it might implicate something scince one is overflowing and the other it dry. Hydraulic fluid and filters are new and at the proper level. Hydraulic unction appears fine but it's hard to tell as i can't do any real work with the hoe as it's stuck in my driveway. Loader is a bit jerky on the up function but i'm thinking some rather beat looking steel lines are the culprit. Both loader and hoe have enough umph to lift the tractor. I haven't been able to pick up a gauge yet as i got called it to work unexpectedly. I'm hoping to at least rule out a main clutch problem because it would't be much fun to split the tractor in the snow. Although ruling out anything would be a bonus right now

Thanks

Oops..Forget what I said about the fill pipe at the dipstick....I was thinking 410 instead of 400. hydraulics / transmission fill from the plug at the rear of the rockshaft cover behind the seat..Pull the dipstick and see what it reads?? By your right heel when seated..Rngine off loader/backhoe as if you were going to street the backhoe to a job..

Sorry Scooter , I was kinda hopin" someone else woulda" answered..But here goes....Did you get a gauge into the reverser control valve ?? What did you find there ?? When you said fluid escapes from the front plughole while nothing comes out the rear plug hole..Are you referring to the drain plugs on the trans/rear housing ??There should be oil in the ring and pinion rear housing from front housing fill-up at the dipstick pipe.It takes trans pressure to make the hydraulics work..How well do the hydraulics work ?? Normally or kind of sickly ??let me know what you find with the pressures and we"ll take it from there..
