Went to look at a 4020D over the weekend. it had been converted to 12V and was Neg ground per the owner. Battery was low and it wouldn't start. After turning over a couple times just 'click click click'. I have left my lights on many a time so am fmailiar with the clicking sound.

So I told the owner we could just jump it as I wanted to make sure the starter worked. Owner said we couldn't.

So, we pull started it, it started fine and ran like a top.

My question is, are there issues with jump starting(from a SUV) a 4020D?

Thanks.

u can jump at the starter. hook positive to starter hot wire and ground to anywhere on tractor. may have to wait couple mins but will start alot quicker than if jumping at battery

My boy has a later 4020 with the factory 12 volt system. He had a dead battery(s) the other week and put the jumpers on. He had them on for a 1/2 hour. I told him he was not close to having enough charge. He found out I was correct. Put the log chain on it and I drove it home and was home before the batteries would have been up enough to turn it over to start at 25 degrees. J.

If it was reallyyyyy yy ?? converted to 12 volts correctly??? one should be able to jump start a 12 volt battery no problem buttttt ttttt if it uses two 12 volt batteries in paralell (say one on each side) its not as good if youre only jumping one of them. Also, I have no idea of how the conversion was done so I just cant say sittin here.
