The casting or "heat date" on My 35 A block reads 2-4-4. Feb. 4 '34 ? Casting date on the main case is 2-8 '35 The 8 is hard to make out, might be a 3 Could this be the original block? The man I bought from 30 years ago had it bored 45 over and repaired a crack in the head. He has since passed on. Thanks in advance for any help. Lewie

Sorry, but it is not an origional block in your tractor. The casting date code would read the number of days into the year followed by the year.
Example: 117-34 Rember production of the "A" begain around early March in 1934 and an "A" block with a build date of Feb. 1934 would be very nice to have though if it had a casting number of A75R which was used up to serial number 410190.
What is the serial number of your tractor? I have two 35's and hope to rebuild them this next year, if I can find a block that I can afford.

421754 is the serial no. My other tractor is 419602. the 602 tractor was used for parts many years ago and is not running. The first one 754 has the "notched frame", 602 has the triangle frame, no notch. Is the 2-4-4-X a replacement block from Deere? part no. on it is A 732 R. I got under the tractor and found the X on the end of the casting date. Could'nt see that last night upside down with poor light. Thank You LEH

I got my parts book out & the A 732 R is a replacement block. This tractor has LOTS of hours on it and the main case is broken out around the right brake. I'm told that was a week area. Deere replaced the A560R main case with an improved version at 424000. 1936 model year.
