.....a good John Deere restoration shop in the Midwest, preferably in Missouri. We recently acquired a '39 B that was my Father-in-Law's. The tractor was restored in the '80's, but has set for at least 15 years without being started. The tractor has been in a shed and the flywheel was spun routinely to ensure that it remained loose, but the paint was ruined by pigeon "deposits". There is also some body work to be done that wasn't done the first time.

I have recently had major shoulder reconstruction and will not be able to tackle a restoration for several months, so we are going to look into having the tractor professionally restored. It is a no-option hand start tractor on cut-offs front and rear. I recently located and purchased rear steel for it and am looking for front steel. I would like to run poly cleats on the rear and road bands on the front.

I would really appreciate any recomendations that the members here could give me for a reasonably priced, good quality restorer in the Mid-West. I realize the tractor isn't rare enough to warrant an Expo quality rebuild, but I would like to have it nice to honor the memory of my Father-in-Law.

Thanks!

There"s a fellow in Russellville just a little southwest of Jefferson City, but I"ve forgotten his name. He has written some very nice articles in TWO-CYLINDER magazine. Not sure if he still does restorations but he did at one time. The 2 Cyl website may give you his name or phone number.

I live in Montgomery City, but the tractor is at my father"s place in Perry MO. Email me and I"ll be glad to send my phone # so we can discuss this project.
Thanks!
