Anyone got any feedback. Considering stretching my budget and try to get a 6603 Cab 2WD for hay, spraying, light tillage, and some occasional heavier tillage. See some nice used tractors but am worried of buying someone elses troubles. Neighbors rented a 6403 last year cab 4WD that was pretty nice. Not plush, but if the cab was decently quiet with a good radio and AC its a step up. I just want a decent cab tractor that I stand a good chance of working on. So, you opinions are welcome. Thank you.

Josh,
I have a 4WD 6603 cab tractor, purchased in 2006, that I use for clipping pasture, dirt work, tillage, and other stuff around the place. Deere seems to have gone back to basics with the 6603 and 6403 and revitalized the long lost concept of overbuilding. All I can say is this tractor is one of the best things I have bought. It is rated at 109hp at the motor and 95hp at the PTO but pulls more like a 120hp tractor. I only have a couple hundred hours on it and have had no problems. The 6603 is more of a field tractor so don"t expect super low creeper gears or a tight turning radius like smaller tractors. Do expect a solid, down to Earth super-heavy duty tractor that will get the job done with out the hassle of all the electronic computer stuff found on fancier tractors. As far as the cab goes, it is a basic luxury compared to clipping all day on a 3010 without a canopy. With heat, air and a good radio you really can"t complain.

It is so good to hear a review like you. I am a design engineer that worked on the initial release of the 6003 tractors for John Deere. Our plan from the outset was to build a new version of the 4020. We didn't add all of the creature comforts in an effort to produce a work horse. I also released the cab for the NA models. Again, it was added as an option, but we didn't want to price us out of our market. Again, thanks for the review and keep working your tractor. That's what it was made for!!!

Nice basic machine. I would cut back on a few personal luxuries for a couple of years and have the 4WD instead of 2WD.
