1940 John Deere B,
There is no difference. Wico developed the Model C series (available January 1939) to replace the AP. What is important is the spec(ification) number - C477 came with a long-lug drive cup (which you need) and the C1042 came with a short-lug drive cup. However, since it is easy to change drive cups, it is common to find either spec number with a long-lug cup. If you buy a C, be sure to look for a cast-in 3 on the upper part of the frame. This indicates solution of a problem with the rotor stalk coming loose in early production models.
