Do you have to bleed the hydraulic system of a JD300 backhoe after cleaning the screen and changing oil and filters?

The filters and screen were pretty dirty, so i hoped this would be the cause of the forward/reverser taking so long to engage.

It sat for a couple of months after i drained the oil because i had trouble finding filters.

Now i have nothing, no drive at all, no movement of the loader, digger or stabilizers.

I'm sorry, but how in the world could you have had trouble finding filters?

No, doesn't require any bleeding. If oil is getting to the front pump, and the pump is turning, the stroke-control valve is probably stuck open (if you have the US built 2.4 cube pump).

If the front pump is the little German pump, and there's a little hydraulic reservoir tank up front above the pump, try filling it and see if the hydraulics take off.

There are many possible causes - but all it takes is one little piece of debris to work through the system and get stuck undre the seat of the strokep-control valve and the hydraulics will go completely dead.
