I have a 1952 john deere ar. I had to get the shifter plate for the reverse/1st fork fixed after i had the tractor get stuck in reverse. I put everything back the way i took it out( i think0 but now i have no lower range gears reverse, first, second or fourth. I thought that maybe i had not put the range fork in the right postion so i tried to drive it without the gear guide, the tractor went into reverse(but was very fast and the forward gear was also to fast for 1st. I took it all apart again thinking that i must have had the range yoke in high while still in the lower gears. when i put it back together again i still couldn't use the reverse,1st,2nd or 4th. I am sure nothing else is broken and am hoping it is an alignment issue or a simple adjustment. Could someone please give me some guidance. I am totally baffled and discouraged. If I am not clear about my problem ask me some guestions and i will try to be more specific.
