thanks for all the help guys. i have some more information. the radiator is copper core because it is green. the number on the radiator is b1804r. it has a powertrol system on the back. the number on it is pcv67368. in front of the clutch housing there is a number that is verticle. b1840r i am assuming this is the block number. it is a 6 speed trans. with high and low range. it has a sliding drawbar, angle iron frame.

Where is this type information printed? I have a BR with no tag and I'm trying to determine the year.

Serial numbers 136662 to 166999 had a cast iron frame as you know. Serial numbers 148500 to 166999 had a pressurized cooling system. Maybe this will get you a little closer.

Try searching the archives/old posts. There have been many more suggestions on ways to read the number.

Deere never put the serial numbers anwhere else on the tractor, but more info would help.
Isit styled or unstyled? what options does it have? ie: hydrolics, water pump, carb type, shift patern, etc. all these things will get you close. Also, try putting a piece of paper over it and shading with a pencel or crayon. That often times helps.

it is styled it has high and low range shifter electric start, hydrolics there is no water pump and i am missing the carb. it is a all fuel. it has the spring seat not the seat with a batery box under it. no rol-a-matic front end. the starter is mounted on the top. it has stamped wheels. any information would be appreciated.

it is a 1941 to early 1947 B. There are also ways to tell if it is a war time tractor by the frame and cooling system. Sometimes you can tell by the front rims if the tractor is original.
