One owner tractors?

I was just curious what you all thought about "For Sale" ads that say one owner, then a little farther down say "I bought this from the original owner." If I count correctly, that makes it a 2 owner tractor, doesn't it? I always thought that a piece of equipment gained "another owner" as soon as money exchanged hands for something.

I AM NOT picking on anybody, but have seen this recently on several occasions on several websites and makes me laugh.

Just curious what your thoughts were. Thanks for the rant time.

Well, I,m the 4th owner .that includes the ist owner of a 1951 G ..talked to all the other owners except the first one who was deceased..but I did get the name of the mechanic that worked on it for the first owner so I feel VERY fortunate to have to me what I consider priceless information on this tractor. Correct information is the key..

I bought a one owner tractor 2 years ago. A '58 620, from the son of the original purchaser. It never left that farm till I drove it away. Original means that it is in need of quite a few parts, and a lot of tender loving care. Their hired hand (93 years young) told me he drove that tractor probably hundreds of thousands of miles. Four rows at a time. Except the corn picker, two rows at a time. It will never work that hard again, as it is resting in semi-retirement now.

I've seen some one owners that were beat all to heck, and i've seen some tractors that have probably had 5 owners that were nice. I like the ones that say "Running in the picture".

If it was said to have been a 1 owner yep but if not nope. Now I have a tractor that I can say is a 2 family tractor since my grand father got it used in 1940 but since then it has been in the family so I could sort of say 2nd owner by way of family. To bad people are no longer honest or don't understand what a term means

That is really neat to know the history. My brother and I have our late Grandpa's 620 that he bought used. It is original paint and looks good, but has had 3 set of rings put in it over the years!

Just for the sake of arguement lets say my grandpa bought new and used til the day he died (yesterday) and in his will said it went to me (today). He "owned" it for 50 yrs , his name is on any and all paperwork. If I was stupid enough to put it up for sale tomorrow , I would advertise it as a one owner and with a clear concience and I think the only thing even God would have a problem with is the fact that I'm selling my Grandpa's tractor to begin with. If I had bought it from an estate sale as a doccumented "one owner" and advertised it the next day , it , by the intended meaning of the word , is still a one owner. Now if I was to work it or pull it long enough to have changed any of it's physical state , then it's a 2 owner. There's a lot of difference between calling it a "one owner" and calling it an "original owner"!! It CAN be a one owner WITHOUT being the original owner!

That is fine with me. What gets me is all the people who buy and sell tractors for a living saying something is "one owner" when, in reality, they have bought it with the intention of selling it. By definition, this is a 2 owner tractor.

I think it is great that people are able to get the tractor that their relatives bought new. These are still same owner's family tractors and I like hearing the old stories about them.

That ranks right up there with people who list parts on eBay under the category of NOS... then when you read the part description, it becomes obvious that the part is not NOS.

There... now I got my chance to rant as well!

I think I feel better now...
