We"ve got a late model 4020hfwd (258739) we're doing up a bit and are having trouble getting the correct male couplers. According to the parts book its p. no ar 47643 sub to AR93820 or ar30210 sub to AR93819. We got them from JD but they seem to be smaller than the receptacle on the tractor. I've heard about different types of couplers (JD/ISO) but can't find part nos. The receptacle dosn't look like the ISO couplers on a 4055 which we have. Another spanner in the works is the 4020 is ex France so don't whether their is a continental europe coupler! anybody got any ideas?

I forgot to add that the RE11447 came up fine with I tried it on JDs site. It says it is $8.50. It will be the same male end as the AR93819, the special part on that coupler is that it is 1/2-14 thread on the female end.

The information you have in your post using part # AR93819 (sub AR30210) is the correct part number for the old style series remotes. They look just like the model you found listed as RE11447. If the coupler they have been giving you looks like the model in the second post, that is for the new style.

While these couplers are "old-style" they are readily available at JD stores. And like was mentioned in the other post, you should just be able to ask for the old style coupler at the counter and them give you the correct part.
Somebody may have thrown the wrong part in the wrong bin and you happened to be the lucky one to get it.

Good Luck

Did you just get the tractor? Perhaps the previous owner already changed them to the ISO style. they are larger than the JD cone type couplers. The couplers on my JD 4400 combine appear to be the same as ISO.

My 4020 has the old style John Deere remotes. I just bought the old style John Deere couplers instead of changing the tractor to ISO. Should be able to get them from John Deere - just tell them it's for the old style John Deere remotes.

Think I"ve got to the bottom of it! Did John Deere cone hydraulic couplers on google and came up with
www.greenfunstore.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2142

Low and behold a coupler which isn"t like the ones from jd which we"ve been getting as supposed correct items. The only thing is when I try the part number RE11447 John Deere "Cone Style" Male Hydraulic Tip, 1/2-in. NPT in Jdparts the number is invalid which begs the next question is this part number incorrect or no longer available? Greenfunstore say Standard tip for all John Deere tractors manufactured before 1982, so thought it would be still availabe from jd. I wonder if I"ve earned my Lieutenant Columbo jacket for this! Cheers guys and thanks for posting

The ISO coupler male has a straight end, not tapered liked the vintage Deere male half. Its readily available in most any farm store, look for a Pioneer ISO, I think 8010-4 is the number. Deere has a conversion kit to change the works of the female side to ISO.

Thanks for putting the photo up. The couplers we got from deere do have a cone shape, so must be the old deere couplers but the problem is they are to small for the female end on the tractor! Next question is did deere have an option to put a larger size coupling on the housing and if they did will they be available and whats the part number. Remember this tractor has a higher flow hyd pump (because of the HFWD) so could possibly have been used to power higher capacity pumps and rams!

Just spoke to someone that they thought there were larger couplers on the hyd couplers on combine headers or possibly the couplers on front end loaders. Any ideas?
