we are working on a 3020 gas was wanting to put propane pistons in it has any one ever done this will this work tractor is 1972 model

I would. They will wake up the tractor and increase the HP per gallon. There might be the need to run 89 octane or blend in a 10% ratio of 100LL gasoline with the 87 slop. Not a drawback considering the gains. Timing, advance curve, carb condition, coolant temp and ignition system components will make or break the economical operation of a gasser. May as well port match the manifolds/head, blend the ports/valve bowl rough edges. Do a decent multi angle valve job and regrind the cam/cam followers. For an odd jobs or low hours per year tractor. A gasser 3020 is just fine.

They will fit. They will raise the compression ratio, but not a whole lot. It will work, might need a different ignition timing or at least a little less initial advance to keep it from pinging on cheap gas.

gerald we have a sit of propane pistons we got new they come above the block ordered a sit of gas pistons and are wrong to from john deere they are wrong also i know there are two dif sise of cranks just cant get right ones jerry
