I know I should know this, but I'm going to throw it out for discussion anyway so I can sleep tonight. As far as the timing on 2 cyl tractors, I have not seen a good photo, or have not read anything on how to wire up a RV2B mag. I usually farm out mag work to those who know mags best, and I know that the firing is 180 degrees off, but does it matter which port on the mag you use for each plug? I don't think it matters myself, but I do have a 35 B with one that doesn't quite run perfect. Might be due to it needing a earlier version on the Fairbanks RV for it has the latter (710) I think. Just wandering before I finish a resto ona 36 B next week. Thanks, Jerry

The bottom terminal has to go to the left cylinder (number one). The RV2B mag doesn`t fire on the Exhaust stroke. They fire Left cyl, right cyl than nothing, nothing than left again. When you install the Mag have the left cyl in firing position and the mag with the bottom terminal ready to fire.

o.k, i'll go out on a limb here. but hopefully someone with more mag experience will chime in. you can use either port depending on how you wire them inside, as long as it coincides with the correct firing order to the correct plug. cosmetically, i would use the traditional set up as to avoid scrutiny if you were concerned for correctness. you be the judge. i think johnT or duane may have a better opinion.

It's more a matter of the mechanics of the distributor drum and points breaker cam. Internal wiring has nothing to do with it. The DRV2B is not really much different than the RV2B for 4 cylinder engines. The biggest difference is the DRV2B essentially has two consecutive (of the RV2B's four) lobes missing from the breaker point cam.

The points break when the tower brushes are in contact with the brass on the rotating distributor. To get a spark at any other time would take some serious internal changes the likes of which I could not imagine any wanting to put into place but then that may be an oddity in my way o thinkin!
