Hi everyone, I have a 1942 JD A that I'm putting back together. I have split main bearings, should I be torgueing these down. If so how because I can't get a socket in there and how many foot pounds. I've looked in different manuals and it doesn't specify any where.
I appreciate any and all help
Thanks
Duane

That's one of those things you tighten by feel and experience. Just make sure they are tight and put the cotter pins in. For some idea of where to be at on torque you can look at a chart for common bolt sizes.
