I have had my 4010 on the wood splitter throughout the winter months of Upstate NY using it off and on. Sometime during one of the January or Feb. cold days it seems like something froze up in the 3pt system. A couple of days I couldn"t get it to go up or down. Now, It goes up after I let it sit and start the tractor up, but it will not go down. It goes down after I let it set for a few days just from settling. What would cause the three point to not go down?

I think your cable was frozen last winter and in trying to move it the cable housing has sliped in the clamp on one end or the cable housing is broken somewhere. Take the tin cover off on the right side under the seat, thats where it hook to the rockshaft valve and disconnect the cable from the lever. Try making the rockshaft operate by just moving the lever. That will tell you if the problem is cable or valve.

I had the same problem this past winter. The cable had frozen up back under the right cover under the seat and I wasn't aware of that. When I found the problem it ended up being under the dash, I had bent the metal end of the cable under the dash. I had to take the dash cover off and then the cable loose and straighten it out.

Is it possible that your cable is froze up or something and your not moving the actual lever on the side of the housing, I had that happen to my 4010 several years ago. If you take off the cover on the right side of the seat there is a lever there that actually controls the 3 point hitch, make sure that lever is working.
