Hi Guys and Girls,

I posted about IDing this piece of equipment before and have more pictures and info. I think it has to be JD as the gauges and switches on the dash are JD and the way the screens on the back of the machine open are classic 70"s JD. The engine data plate reads "Type" JD 6329DN 03 and "Serial" 231200 T. The Cab has a Data plate that reads "Model" 915744 and "Serial" 6-25425. The only other tags are on the Main drive hydraulic motor which says Sundstrand Hydro Transmissions "Model" 22-3029 "Serial" 05-MA 76197
Tell me what you think.

guys, the front end, where the big tires go, sticks out to much to be a picker don't you think? just comparing the pics of the unknown to the ones of the picker show it appears that the cab sit forward of the tires on the picker and higher up. somebody post these pictures on johnnt popper forum and see if anybody over there knows about it.

I can"t find the pictures for the 499 model picker so I think this machine is a 499 and the 699 changed and had the cab higher and forward is my thought. If you look at the back of the 699 pics this machine is about identical

I think that engine will fit in a 4400 combine, an early 6600 combine, a 4030 tractor with a few mods and many Dubuque applications.

The engine serial number info; 6329DN identifies the engine as a 6 cylinder 329 cubic inches, D for Diesel and N for Des Moines Works that built cotton strippers and pickers.

Believe the machine to be a cotton stripper as noted below.

I found a picture of a 699 cotton picker on the net and yes this is the running gear for that machine. Thanks for the help. Now I have to decide what to do with it. One thing that"s different than the picture is the cab seems to be higher on the frame than on the one I have. It might have been moded some already. The pics are of one turned into a jungle gym for kids.

The cab interior sure looks like a 499 or 699 picker; the picking/stripping refers to first-over picking and second-over stripping. Never saw one stripped down like that, so can't really say.

Dan, where did you find it? If i'm in Idaho and see something I can't ID i think potato, Southern states I think cotton, High crop I think rice. In photo ID you said JD engine but not JD. Guages and shifters look mid 70/early80 JD to me, The little I can read of the controls makes me think cotton stripper.

It kinda look like a 5400 self propelled harvester that has been sawed off and converted to some other use.
Just my 2 cents

I got this at the largest auction ever. The Garys in Bridgeport auction by Kruse. I think it is a Deere but nobody can figure it out. I agree that the gauges and engine are deere and it looks like a windrower but the controls for gear selection are 1st for picking and 2nd for stripping 3rd and 4th for transporting. The engine is JD but the local dealer says he doesn't know what it is and was thinking another OEM that bought engines from deere for it. I still think it is a JD of some sort.

Dan, Now I'm fairly sure it is a cotton picker base with all the picker gone. The Sunstrand hydros were build near me and used by lots of different companies, friends had days off for line switch to IH, JD, NI, and always were amazed that everyone couldn't use same "whatever" instead of made to "spec" for our machine when internals were identical. If you get definite answer please post. Thanks
