I have been looking for a 2 cyl John Deere for about 3 years now in my price range. Got one today. 1945 A, Slant dash all fuel. Was running they took off the carb for rebuild and lost interest. Tires on back are ok. New front ones. sheet metal looks real good. 500 dollars

I have never even drove a 2 cyl much less work on one so I am counting on you guy's.

First I will be ordering some manuals.(any suggestions?)
I may post some pictures when I get it home.

Just had to tell someone. Thanks
Jeff

Sounds like a good deal.Finding good sheetmetal really helps if your going to repaint it. Used parts should be plentiful for that model as they made alot of them.

Can't beat the Manuals offered on Deerely Departed.com They are perfect reprints of the originals at a decent price. The ones that Deere offers are like everything else they sell, WAY over priced.

Be sure, however, not to accept the notion that SM2000 is THE shop manual for ANY tractor -- it is a General Purpose Service Manual -- addressing shop tooling, engine valves, carburetors and electrical systems! That's it!

Go to the John Deere "H" Site (below), scan across to ARTICLES 1, and from the drop-downs, select DEERE PUBS. Page 2 will show you which manuals are available from Deere, and at the bottom of page 1 are shown ways to obtain them.

If you are well-versed in use of the "jdparts" website, you should be able to download the Parts Manual in PDF format, but a hard copy you will have to purchase or print. (PatB)

I would suggest deerelydeparted.com for your manuals. They have flawless reprints of the original manuals for a very reasonable price (much cheaper than Deere).

Great! That's how I got started, just up and went off the deep end, bought a 1935 B. I was as ignorant as could be about these old 2 cylinders but lurking, asking questions and learning how to look up things in the archives got me through that one plus about 8 after that. Let me be the first to say get your manuals by calling Deere Publications at (800) 522-7448. Have serial number , model and your credit card ready.
Welcome.
