All, This is my 1st time of ever working on a transmission, so I thought I should visit here 1st. As I am not sure what I am doing..

Anyway, here is the problem (2 actually):

1) When I am running in 1st gear under a load it may pop out of gear (actually only happened 1x the 2nd time I did an Antique Tractor Pull - needless to say that held me back).

2) Frequently when I shift into 5 or 6 its like I am in neutral. Until I shift into a lower gear (like 1st or Reverse) and drive a few feet.
Any idea on what I need to look for in regards to both of these issues?

The tractor runs great and has been in the John Deere Collectors Center "Tractor Ride" for the past 3 years....hoping to get back this year. Just need to get the transmission issues resolved.

Right now its in the garage and I have the transmission top cover off, but I am not sure yet what I am looking at....or for.

Note: I do have an "IT Shop & Service Manual for the B.

Note: The Serial Number on this B is 209584

Thanks!

Kevin

I found out part of my problem on the 1st-3rd-Reverse Shifter, the detent (sp?) is worn off basically. So, now I need to replace the following part "JD B2585R".

Think that my other issue may be that when shifting into 5/6 that its not engaging or shifting far enough. Going to look at that once this is fixed, everything else looks okay to me.
