Ok I have decided I need to go ahead and fix the tranny on my JD 2010. I have all of the components that need to be removed taken off. I have all the fluid drained and am ready to split the tractor. My dad and I tried to split it for atleast an hour with no movement. I know the issue is just getting the input shaft to start sliding out of the clutch, but I do not know how to help it come out.

I know there are a lot of more experienced people in this area than me and will appreciate any responses I can get.

Thanks

Well, yall were right on the money. I took the remote control valve out and the rear of the tractor slid right apart.
I really felt dumb when it did too. I double checked the service manual and it was clearly written in there, don't know how I missed it.

Anyways thanks for your help.

Scott

I had a time finding mine. I needed the support too and ended getting it and a drawbar on ebay for $50.

You wouldn't happen to know of an extra drawbar laying around anywhere. I need one for a 2010.

Sounds like it is the remote control valve that is the problem. I did not take it off.

Thanks for everybody's help. I will try it again tomorrow and let yall know what happens.

Thanks

Scott

Make sure that you remove the remote control valve from inside the steering support, there are two tubes that go through the clutch housing and in to the front cover of the transmission even if no remote control, this adaptor or remote valve "MUST" be removed

When I split my 2010, I split it at the engine and bellhousing, then removed the bellhousing. As long as you're splitting it, may as well check the clutch, pilot bearing, and throw out bearing. Make sure there's not something still connected. Sometimes it's something obvious that you keep overlooking, like the steering arm, or underslung exhaust. If it has remote hydraulic outlets you will have the remove the remote valve from the top of the bellhousing. There is also a power steering or hydraulic line that runs through the bellhousing to the hydraulic pump that has to be removed. Once everything is unhooked it should slide apart easily. If it is the input shaft, make sure both halves of the tractor are in the same plane and pry evenly on both side of the tractor at the same time so it doesn't c*ck.

I am pretty sure. I did not take any oil pan bolts off, I am removing the transmission section from the clutch housing, not the clutch housing from the engine.

I know it is loose because when I left off of the jack the first time, the tractor split about 1/4" at the bottom of the transmission. It was only held together at the top around the input shaft.

Also when I started taking everything off I simply followed the procedure in the John Deere Tech Manual SM-2035. It was just that when I got to the step of roll the halves away, it didn't work that easy.

Thanks

did you remove the trany cover i think there are bolts inside the housing that you can only get to with the cover off

There are no bolts inside the transmission housing that need to be removed in order to split the tractor.
