When mounting the rims to the hubs, should I put all the clamps on the hubs loosely, align everything and then tighten? Or should I align the tire/rim with the hub then put each clamp on individually? Either way I"ll get some paint scratches, but I"ll be doing this myself with an engine hoist and I need it to go smoothly. Thanks.

There are several ways to do it but... The easiest way for one person is:

Put three clamps on the hub at the 11:00,12:00,and 1:00 positions.

Roll/Lean the rim/tire in until it leans against the clamps at the top.

lower the jack just a bit until you can slip the bevel into the V's in the clamps.

Now raise the jack and the bottom of the tire will slide inward as the tractor goes up. Don't go too far or you'll have to start over.

Put your other clamps/bolts in, tighten and try to keep your nuts/threads similar.

Lay/attach some kind of indicator on the tractor that comes within an inch of touching the tire. Jack up and spin wheel.

If it's crooked, spin the wheel until the tire is at it's closest point to the indicator.

If your clamps are on the inside of your hubs, loosen the three farthest from your indicator and tighten the three closest to the indicator. If clamps are on the outside, do just the opposite. This is assuming you have 8 clamps total. Make sure they are all tight when you finish.

If you're trying to keep from scratching paint, get a couple of people to help.

I would put all the clamps and bolts on and then go around and tighten them and criss cross even then and go a little at a time on each one. Then while jacked up spin it and see if it runs fairly true.
