36 B front pedestal question

I am getting ready to put the pedestal back on my 36 B tractor. The pedestal has been off my tractor for probably 25 years. The surface that mates to the front of the frame is pretty rough and flaking off but I don't know was that surface machined flat when it was new or just cast flat. Mine laid on the ground in a barn for 25 years and thats why its rough but everything else about it is good. I want to make sure it goes on straight when I put it on.

I just finished restoring a 36 B and YES the two mating surfaces are machined flat! Just be sure to get all the loose material cleaned off before you install the pedestal. If you dont as the rust loosens up and falls out the nuts will get loose.

Just cast flat. What I would just do is wire wheel these surfaces really good and then prime them, slap 'er right on that frame. No worries about irregularities.
