I got a lot of old planters and plows and stuff piled up on a wagon in the barn that I want to fix up, get working, and mount on my tractors as I fix them up. Everything is in a thousand parts and my dad and grandpa can’t remember how it all works.
Anyone know where I can find info on this stuff?

Here is a pic to give yall an idea of what I’m messing with.

Well, it looks like you might have most of a 200 series cultivator in that pile. It"s used on the A, B, G, 50,60, and 70. The application specific to the A,B, and G is the (ready for this?) ABG 200. If you go to JDParts.com and click where it says Parts Catalogs, you can then enter 180 in the box labeled Catalog Number Search, wait a while, and geta downloadable parts catalog for that cultivator. That should help you identify parts and assemble a unit.

i think the wood beam mule drawn plow is probably worth as much if not more than any single piece you have on the trailer.

We got lots of old horse drawn equipment, everything from the leather collars and wood single and double trees to a working wood planter, rakes, drag hare, etc. All of that stuff was left on the farm before my family bought it in 1957, so there is no sentimental value but I do respect it and am amazed by it. All of it has always been kept out of the weather and respected.

Thanks guys, I’ve been looking all over for info on the planter instead of the cultivators. I’ve took most of the stuff off the trailer and scattered it around, looks like I got parts for mule drawn stuff and cultivators and planters from the old A and the MT plus some other stuff that doesn’t even look John Deere. A few weeks ago I dug out what I think is the MT cultivators and fixed them along with the MT. I’m planning to try and figure out how to put stuff on the A next and fix it.

Here is some more pics of my situation and the progress so far;

I spent about 8 hours digging through that wagon that day after I took the pictures. It was one of the best days of my life. Before it was over I had my dad and my grandpa out there, we were all 3 picking up parts and trying to put things together while they reminisced about old times. It was defiantly a great spring day. For sentimental reasons as well as ownership reasons I can’t let of any of that stuff go, but I do plan to restore and preserve it all and take most of it to as many tractor shows as I can.

where to start. oh, thats where your asking. you have most of the parts for a cultivator mounted planter for an a, b or g tracotr. the item right in the middle of the pic at the very bottom with teeth on it is a cotton spider or plantter plate. the item with the sq block pointing up is the botom part to a fertilize hopper. the wheels are from what i think is a mondel 212 planter. the only things i don't see are the arms that mount on the axle to adjust the depth of the cultiator (one on each side of the seat) and the push rods that work off the rocker shaft arms to raise and lower the cultivator. if you go to the jd dealer to ask questions, he want find a book on the planters so have him look for the cultivator book, because the planter is an attachment to the cultivator, not the tractor. cat no is pc 430 for several model of the 200 series planters. it looks like you may have the row markers for a mule drawn planter on the bottom of the trailer. if you have a green magazine calendar for 2004 under may there is a pictue of my tractor with the planters mounted to it. mount the cultivator first, without any feet on it. there is a flat plate (runners) that mounts to the cultivators supports that are on each side of a "row" this is what the wheels are mounted to. the hoppers mount on the side of the tractor with the fertilize hoppers going to the front. mount them second i think is right. the fertilize hopper mounts on part of the seed hoper that bolts to two holes in the frame on the tractor. these holes are nearly under the flywheel. there is a chain tht runs from cogs that mount to the axle (you don't have to remove the axle to mount them), then a small chain runs off of the small gear boxes to drive the fertilize hopper. if you happen to fine the row markers and don't want to put them on, i'd give evry tooth in my mouth for them. em me with questions.

Thanks a lot for the info on the planters. I’m wanting to fix all this stuff up and get everything back right for sentimental reasons. My great grand father and grandfather bought all of this stuff in the 1950’s and used it to run our farm until the 80’s when dad and I took it over. I can barely remember using the planters and “dirt” farming when I was little, we have been cattle farming the last 25 years or so. I guess the biggest problem I’m having is figuring out which parts go with which parts that go with which tractor. It looks like I only have one side of the cultivator arms that go on the A. It would be real nice if I could find pictures of this stuff mounted on a tractor, actual operators or instruction manuals would be great. So far my internet searches are turning up nothing.

Thanks again,

Id encourage you to sort thru your pile. I see a lot of different pieces to complete the mounted planter setup on your tractor. Not only will it look like a standout (you dont see many tractors with all the implements on them) but youll save part of the past that most people would just take to the scrap yard.
