I have a 322 with a yanmar engine, water cooled (purchased around 1990). my problem is the engine does't start or even turn over when the key is turned. The dash lights go on but it seems like one of the kill switches is shorted or something. I've wiggled the deck toggle switch and made sure the forward/reverse lever was set in the nuetral slot. Every once in awhile it will turn over, but right now I've got a machine down.

Any possible help out there? would be greatly appreciated.

also, I can't find my operator's manual. any links available to buy one??

Joe

OK, you guys solved that problem, how about helping on mine? Also have a 322. Starts fine, but quits after about 20-30 minutes. Will not start again for about 10-15 minutes. Stalls again after about 5 minutes. Have changed the 3 coils and the voltage regulator/rectifier. Still does the same thing. Do all 322s have a transistor module? Where is it located? Could that be the problem. When this thing runs, it runs great. Lot of hours.

Joe; There is an interlock switch on the Hi/lo range selector and on the PTO engage lever. These prevent starting the engine in gear or when the PTO is engaged. Check these out! Tugboat

Problem fixed! The sheet metal heat sheild rusted and fell off wedging itself between a set of wires and the engine just below the muffler. The sheet metal shorted those wires. Once I removed the sheet metal and re-insulated the wires, the engine started right away.

Joe; That's great news but, now you need to fix the heat shield that fell off or you will have another problem. Tugboat
