How much oil do you add to the resevoir in front of the steering column. Is this for the magneto and fan drive shaft?

Thanks much! Gary

Clooney is right on the money as usual but he did not mention the power lift reservoir. I realize it sits kinda to the left of the steering post and that's likely why he did not mention it. We're guessing a bit at what you're referring to. If it IS the power lift reservoir, make sure all remote cylinders are completely collapsed (not extended at all) and fill the reservoir to the level line stamped on the steel plate cover on the rear of the housing. It's about 3/4 of an inch from the top of the filler hole. Caution: If you fill the reservoir with a remote cylinder extended, when the load the cylinder is holding is dropped you'll blow the gaskets, the drive shaft seal or both right out of the unit.

Buckeye Al, thanks for remembering the "power lift" my "H" is too old to have power lift & my memory is too old to remember the "H" had optional "power lift".

longview livestock, if you are refering to the steering gear (in front of the radiator) the book calls for gear oil, but if you put in gear oil it will probably just run out the bottom. I usually use a soft grease like "corn head grease" & fill it to just above the top of the gear that lies flat. If you are refering to the fan bearing housing (just behind the fan) it just gets greased with chassis grease, if you are refering to the governor housing ( the one with the mag. bolted on the side) that is where the crankcase oil goes when you add oil after an oil change or if it is low on motor oil. You check the oil level with the "oil level cock" on the left side of the crankcase, just open the bolt on it & fill until oil drips out.
