Wont start by hand...pulling only. Then won't idel. Throttle 1/2 open runs good but then engage gear and stalles out.
Main adjustment on carb makes a difference when adjusted. Idel adjustment makes no difference even if taken clear out.
Had Magneto rebuilt...not sure its right. Spring under mag.(after you take steel cap off) weight control (when Mag out) is tight on outside and in gruve but the INSIDE of that SAME spring spring does not connect to anything? Does that end of spring fall in gruve automatically

Rebuilt Carb but idel adjustment makes no difference. Load adjustment does make a difference and will throw black smoke if opened up.

HELP and THANKS

Your spring is broken. it should hook on both ends. that's why it will start when pulling it but not by cranking. impulse isn't working.

THANKS CLOONEY AND JIM Anderson. YOU got me going.

I had three problems.

#1 Would not start by hand..spring in Mag was not connected to one end.

#2 Would not stay running or idel. Died when under load.
Carb problems.. took Carb apart and used small drill (BY HAND) and opened passages up and sprayed with Carb Cleaner. Float metal instead of cork but made level when it shut needle valve off. #3 Would not idel. Took screw out next to Idel adjustment and run small drill bit (by hand) thru it. Lots of black junk come out..then used carb cleaner and sprayed in hole

Have had JD B for about 10 years and never run so good...and didn't cost me a dime..Just good info from the guys...THANKS

Jerry, glad to hear you got it repaired. Those carbs aren't rocket science but can be real tricky to get the passages clean in.

Jerry, leave your request post, then when your tractor is running correctly re-post a follow up to your original post so other people can benefit from it. People can search the archives with a problem & find a similar problem, the answers & the final solution.

Jerry, can you hear the "impulse" snap when you roll it over by hand? If so the mag is probably OK. It sounds to me like you still have a plug or restriction in the idle circuit passage or plugged holes in the throttle bore for the idle circuit. Just using carb. cleaner & compressed air "WILL NOT" get the idle circuits clean in a DLTX carb., you must pull the brass plugs & run a wire or long drill bit through them.

Your flooding out, check the float adjustment and the float for a leak.

Float is OK...no leaks

Adjusted float at 3/8 from the top. (metal float.not cork)
Should the idel adjustment make a difference when adjusted Doesn't...can take clear out and still NO change in the way it runs or idels. Could I have a bad carb? I rebuilt it to no satisfaction. The jet under the spring was stuck but I cleaned and got unstuck so it comes out when the spring does. Needle valve is new.

THANKS for whoever provides info...I'm stuck on this one..tried everything I know except replace carb...

About has to be the carb or Mag. Looks like Mag would not work at all if it went out (coil or condenser)

Motor in good condition. valves, rings, head, block , etc.
