1948 JD Model B Tappet Lubrication Problem

My 1948 Model B does not have oil pumping to the tappet oiler. We removed the oiler washer nut that holds the "washer" (the grooved washer that directs oil from the top of the head to the oil distribution tee). We can see oil pumped to that point, but there is not sufficient pressure to push it up the line to the tappet oiler. So, oil is coming through to the top of the head, but not up the tee. Has anyone encountered this problem? And, can you suggest any likely place that is the source of the problem? Thanks!!!!!

Glenn, have you checked the tappet oiler tube for blockage? If that is OK do as Spokerdl said and check the oil tube inside the crankcase. While you are in there check them all. If you can't find any broken or cracked oil lines take a .002" feeler gage & try to slide it between the oil filter body & oil filter head (the casting that the oil filter can bolts to). If that oil filter was ever overtightened the filter body could be distorted where it bolts to to the filter head. (that is a common problem on 2 cyl. J.D.'s. If there is a leak there it lowers the oil pressure considerably. How much oil pressure is you B running? Should be 10-15 psi hot at fast idle.

Glenn, Check the oil line comming from the oil pump. Check it real close for a cracked line or a loose fitting on the oil line. I sure you know that you have plenty of oil pressure to every thing else in the engine. You will have to remove the engine cover to get to the oil line you need to check.
