What is the torque and max hp rating of the 179 ci? (Not the turbo version) I've seen this rated from 34 HP all the way to 85 HP. I'm looking at a 5205 and 5310 now with this engine. How is the fuel consumption? All, Good, bad comments welcome... Thanks

According to the brochure, the 5205 naturally aspirated engine has 48 hp at the PTO and the SAE gross engine horsepower is 53. Don't know about torque or fuel consumption.

I also have a brochure on the 5000 Ten Series and it does not mention a naturally aspirated 5310. The 5210 is a naturally aspirated and is rated at 45 hp at the PTO and 53 gross engine hp. The 5310 is turbocharged and is rated at 55 hp at the PTO and 63 gross engine hp. Still can't help on torque or fuel consumption.

I've driven both for a few days pulling passenger trams at a big air show in Lakeland, FL and liked the 5310 much better - it just seemed to be a more finished, more refined, better running and easier-to-drive tractor.

I hope this is a little help.

Stan

Hi Stan,
I drove the 5205 and really liked it. I haven't driven the 5310 yet, but I think I like the transmission on the 5205 better. It's not suppose to be syncro shift (1234), but the one I drove shifted on the fly nicely! Putting it to work is another story...
I am a Massey guy and don't know much about the 179, except I see it in many units...
