I know that this board is for old tractors but everyone here has good answers to most everything so, here goes. I have a 4010 tractor that I use to plow, plant etc but it does not have 3-pt or loader. I need a tractor that I can move hay round bales with and attach phd etc. just utility type stuff. I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation as to what tractor would be best suited for this. Also I only cultivate ~40 acres now so would it be worth getting say a slightly larger tractor and getting rid of the 4010 altogether?

I have a John deere 2440, that is just what you need. (One like it. Not mine!) 60 HP, and enough size and wieght to handle a loader. Good power, and balance, very nimble. Mine has 16.9x30's and it has plenty of clearance. I use it for most of my hay work, plus it pulls a 4 row Deere 7000 planter. I bought it last summer, to keep some of the hours of of my 4440. I find myself using it for more chores every day. The 2640 is the next step up. It has 70 HP. Both very fine tractors. John
