Can anyone give me information on on JD 1020. A guy is advertising one in the local paper for $9500. It is a 32 HP gas, mid 70s vintage. Tin and running condition is supposedly "good" to "very good". Accesories include: all hydraulics (?), 7' Souder(?) snow blade, 6' JD finishing mower, stone rake, back scoop, chains, pulley, 2 B plow.
I am unfamiliar with this model, any insight you can give me at all will be a help

Gary

I have not had direct experience with a 1020 but believe they were a good model. When Joh Deere went to the "New Generation" they put their efforts into the 3010 and 4010 but the 1010 and to a degree the 2010 were part new and part old. From what I have seen the 1010 was not good. The 1020 was I believe was much better made. $9,500 sounds a bit high at least for our area where one can buy a good 4020 for that.

Gary, I've been farming with a 1020 d fuel for thirty years now. During that time I have had to replace a water pump bearing and clean out the fuel tank. It is my favorite tractor. Here in Virginia they usually sell for around $6500 to $8000 when you can find them.

Robert,

Thanks for the info. A friend of mine asked me about this because he knows I have some knowledge about John Deere tractors, but the newer models are not my forte. He would like it for snow plowing and bruch hoggin. Sounds like it is reliable and should be able to do what he needs, and the price isn't too far out of line.
