Gentelman my A was missing when under load. I changed the points and condenser and rotor and now it doesnt miss under load but its a Devil to start. I would start very easily prior to this. Got any Ideas?

Tom, I would also try what the clooney man said myself, but what you said is still a bit puzzling. Often, its my diagnosis when hard to start (and assuming its not a fuel problem), things like points condensor plugs etc. come to mind first, but after that (if they then run fine when started) I wonder about things like the ignition by pass starting circuit. However, I dont think your tractor has that. There are some mechanical push starter switches with a small side terminal that feeds voltage and by passes the ballast resistor when cranking, but supposedly you didnt mess with that (or you dont have one) and it shouldnt have changed from what you did. Still, being a bit hard to start but running fine after load, can sure be timing as ol clooney said and for sure a new set of points having a different gap and/or different cam follower wear, changes the timing, so play with that and post us guys back. Check the point gap again also just to be sure. John T

Tom, check the ignition timing as a little point gap change will change the timing. If all ok there then use a clean piece of paper to clean the points (they could be oxidized from sitting before sale) if no help then start re-installing the parts you replaced one at a time, start with the rotor because some of the aftermarket rotors have a longer center contact & will lower the KV that jumps the plug gap.
