How hard is it going to be for me to find a set of .125 over Cast Iron 70 all-fuel pistons? I do not want aluminum.

Justin

How many hours on that 70? Seems to be a lot of cylinder wear with the origional bore,45,& 90 over now worn out. Is the all fuel carb metering block DLTX-85 still in use with gasoline . The DLTX-82 for gasoline will reduce bore wear from raw fuel washing the ring lube off.

from my experience I don't think JD made cast iron except in 45 over. All the larger sizes are the aluminum type. Better check out the parts manual to see if I'm right. If your block is not bad I'd just rering the old pistons...be sure to cut the ridge

If you are running on gasoline, going up to gasoline or LP compression ratio will make the cast iron units look good sitting on the shelf as conversation pieces. The extra power & fuel efficiency will be quite comforting. Will require a bottom end re-balance however to prevent vibration if using aluminium.

Justin aren't 70 all fuel an "G" pistons the same 6 and 1/8 th +.125,I stand to be corrected but I think a "G" piston will work in a 70 All-Fuel just an idea and "G"s will be easier to find. Gman

Gman, yes they had the same bore, and actually this 70 piston is in a G. Something bad has happened to one of the cylinder walls, and it's either gonna be .125 overs (has .090s in it now) or a new block. I'm thinking the block is gonna be the easier way to go. I really like these pistons, that's why I'm gonna stick with them some way or another.

Justin, I'm kind of partial to cast iron pistons myself. You will have to call around but they are going to be hard to find. If your old pistons are still good you might want to consider having the block sleeved to fit them, probably be about the same money. You might try calling Greg Stephen ( 303-688-3151)or go to his web site.
