JD 2020 Hydraulic Problem

I have a JD 2020 I bought used 7 yrs ago with no real problems.I recently rebuilt the main hydraulic pump (8 cyl) because I did not have enough pressure to operate a 3 point backhoe. Everything worked fine for a week or so. The problem is the hydraulic pressure is fine for only a few minutes when the tractor is first started. The pressure then dumps out and I can barely operate the loader or 3pt. This is without the backhoe attached. If I stop the engine and restart the same thing happens, high pressure for a few minutes then barely anything. There is plenty of fluid in the tractor. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You need to run the return oil from each (loader and back hoe )to the filter housing. the hyd . couplers dump into the transmission and the trans. pump only puts out abt. 4 gal, not neerly enough to do the job. If this is a new problem then the oil filter relief valve could be stuck open. just a thought. Don

Sounds like a weak charge pump or internal hydraulic leak(steering valve, loader valve, rockshaft valve,) bleeding off charge pressure. This is assuming the hyd.filter and cross screen are clean and main pump is set to specs.

Funny you should mention the loader valve (I've always heard a hissing from the loader control valves). When I had the backhoe attached, I disconnected the loader and the pressure to the backhoe went up but only for a while. Then the problem continued.

I was thinking that a relief valve was opening somewhere, given the fact that I have high pressure initially. I reduced the pressure from the main pump, but it didn't help. I will check both filters for clogging.

Is the charge pump the pump in the transmission housing? If it is I had JD look at it last year when they replaced a seal for the shafts from the transmission to the clutch(bell housing). They didn't find anything wrong. I have a slight leak fo fluid into the bell housing (black oil, probably engine) I think its leaking from the rear main seal.
