I need to replace the clutch in my dad's 3010. I am looking for information on how hard it is and how long it should take. Also, I was reading on a question that someone else had posted about the PTO. Is it wise to replace the PTO while i have the tractor down? The tractor was bought new by my Grandfather and I believe it is a 1961. It has less than 3000 hours on it and has only been used on the family farm tilling about 100 acres a year until the late '70's. Thanks for any help you can give.

This is just a thought, but before you split that tractor, have you checked to see if there is any adjustment left in the clutch? The owners manual tells how to check it. You didn't say if you had, but it would be a lot cheaper to make sure before you do split the tractor.

You probably need to turn the flywheel and face
of pressure plate to get a good job.Put a straight
edge on the pressure plate and flywheel to check
for uneven wear. There's a gage they use to set pressure plate fingers.

I used to work on the 10 and 20 series tractors replacing clutches etc. Don't know that we had much trouble with PTO. Regular clutch is piece of cake once you get the tractor split. That isn't hard if you have split stands or the right hoists and it doesn't have a cab. Cab just makes it a little more complicated. Don't remember what flat rate manual says but think you coudl do it in 4 hours with the right equipment and parts available

it would be best to replace the pto fingers while you are there. i own a 3010 diesiel and i had to put a clutch in it while doing so noticed the fingers were worn. if you don't and have a problem later you will have to split it again. spliting the tractor requires special stands or hoist to support the tractor. good luck. justin
