My 1997 JD 870 runs great for about 30 minutes and then it starts to misfire. When I throttle down it will not rev up and continues to misfire. If I shut it down for 10 minutes it will run fine again for awhile and then start misfiring. Any sugestions would be appreciated.

I have a John deere 870 engine. 28 hp. 3 cyl. (yanmar 3tn84) IT IS BRAND NEW! It is complete oil pan, to Valve cover, water pump to flywheel. Fuel injection pump, injectors exhaust, the works. Its not rebuilt. It was removed from a wrecked tractor. It was being delivered on a flatbed when the flatbed rolled. Again its BRAND SPANKING NEW. Its been kept in shrink wrap untill one month ago. Call me or email me for pictures and or deatils BEST OFFER OVER $1000. You cant rebuild one for that! Alan kangas Lake city South Carolina usa, 843-687-3461

Tony, sounds like you are having a fuel problem.. Check the fuel filter.. I think the 870's have the clear filter and you just replace the inner cartridge... You could also have water in the fuel.. Try draining the trank and try new fuel.. If you can look in the bottem of the tank when it is empty, and make sure U don't have something blocking the line from the tank.. (I guess you could just pull the fuel line loose and make sure U are getting good flow to the pump.. ) Good luck
