I was told the other day that Minneapolis Moline built a 2 cylinder for a short period. Has anyone heard one? Just wonder how it sounds compared to the JD 2 Cyl. Bob

Model YT is correct and it sounds just like the Dubuque (vertical) 2-cylinder engines. It was simply half of an EE engine (used on the R model). Saw and heard one at the Lindsay, TX show 2 or 3 years ago. Seems to me that MM would have done better to have designed the whole tractor around the idea instead of lopping off half the engine. Yes, the back end was a little lighter but not enough to give the machine the balance needed for what little power was available.

MN Bob,

M-M built 25 Model YT's, 16 in 1937 and 9 more in 1938. They were in that sort of nebulous area of not being experimentals but not being regular production; but they were serial numbered. I have seen 3 of them, but never heard one run. Something tells me they had an even firing order, not the uneven timeing of the J.D.

Jim

M-M made a Model "YT" in 1937. It was a Model R engine cut in half. Few were built and it was considered a failure. This info I got from "Minneapolis-Moline Tractors 1870-1969".

Bob, a friend of mine has one of these Minnie's. I'm not sure what the model designation was (RT, I think). I have not heard it run but it has an upright two cylinder engine. Supposedly was only produced for a very limited time, kind of a "pre-production" run. Very rare, but they do exist- I've seen it. Hope this helps. Mike
