i have a 1520 John Deere that i would like to add a loader to. this may be a stupid question guys but, where do you tap in to the hydraulic system to power the loader? where do you return the line out hydraulics? the loader is an older loader and has two hydraulic levers one to run the loader and one to run the bucket any info would be helpful thanks

You need to convert the loader's valve to closed center if possible, or replace it with a closed center valve. No choice in the matter. Make the hydraulic connections as Cannonball has outlined.

The 1520 has a closed center front pump charged by a gear pump in the transmission. The return line of any high use component needs to be returned to the filter cover to properly charge the main pump. Make sure the loader valves are closed center valves and hook the pressure hose to the high pressure port below the right operator foot platform. This will allow the loader to function faster due to less loss going through a remote valve. Be sure and blow out the lines of the loader before attaching to remove contamination. These closed center pumps do not like dirt or water.

first does the loader have closed system loader valves..if not it will not work on a 1520..if it does then you must hook up the high pressure behind the fitting that high pressure line goes to..you can install fitting or if you have remote you can install a tee there ...the return line needs to go back into the filter cover, you can buy new cover with fitting to hook up to..this needs to be done for loader to work right...if you have more questions you can e-mail me have nice day

what series of loader are you putting on the 1520?
Is it a JD or another brand?

the loader is not a John Deere loader, it was on a David Brown 1200 i have. the make is is a mystery, no tags or serial numbers. it is a quick-attatch loader. i designed new mounting plates for the John Deere cut into the line going to the power steering and rock shaft, now neither works, routed the output from the loader to a plug in the transmission housing. i'm kinda stumped but that's nothing new.

I have seen hydro lines hooked up in two ways.
1) run the hydro lines back to the ports in the rear under the right foot rest.
2) directly under the right foot rest there is a housing with 2 bolts, towards the bottom. The hydro lines can be hooked up there, but i'm not sure which line goes to which hole. Any JD dealer can tell you. On their computer they can show you the exact place to hook up.
