We used to use the champion plugs with a long base, D23s, they are a real hot plug, a little hard to find though. got some at NAPA a while back but the ones the JD dealer substiuted were not the same. Something about that long base really seemed to help on the A's

Cody, others may have their own opinion, but I would use an Autolite 3116 plug. It is a very warm plug with a small electrode to hold even more heat to keep itself clean. They work very well. Hope this helps. Mike
