I have a '72 1020 with a very loud (I had the muffler off for a while, and could hear the noise over the exhaust) dieseling kind of noise that appears to be related to the hydraulic system. The noise is loudest near the shifter levers as opposed to up front where the pump is at. The noise completely stops if I use any of the hydraulics (loader or rock shaft). I don't have power steering, and the hydraulics all seem to work great aside from the overbearing noise. The noise is not effected by the clutch.

Thanks for any comments.

Thank you.... too heavy for the 14k trailer then. That trailer weighs 3200# by itself. Thank you for the information. Joe

David is on right track check brackets that hold the hydraulic lines to right side of engine make sure no metal to metal contact. Had same problem with a 2030.

the main pressure line pases under the right footstep.sometimes tthe steel tube touches the footstep (above the brake valve) and transfers the vibration noise to the whole tractor.
