I have a friend with a 1949 MT. The drawbar appears to be reversed (the bar is a U shaped with the hitch toward to tractor instead of toward what you would hook to the tractor.) What is the purpose of this? Is this standard on the MT?

The MT is completely restored and was professionally painted. He is considering selling it. What is it worth in the midwest? Just curious. Thanks.

The MT drawbar is a 2 piece affair. One is a Bar with hooks, the other is a straight piece that goes in the middle. Have picture if needed. Russ

Yes this is standard. The drawbar for the m series tractors was a flat plate with a series of holes aprox. 1/2" thick. It had for lack of a better term "hooks" on each end that fit around the round single fast hitch bar. They then nad another bigger "hook" with a hole in it that lined up withthe hole that is in your "U" shaped part. This point was also where the plows were held on the tractor. So you are proably missing the actual drawbar for your tractor.
