1942 JD model B narrow front

What is the value of a 1942 JD model B narrow front? The tractor belongs to a good family friend and I have been approached about removing it from his back yard. The engine is stuck, all four tires will hold air for loading or towing but are in poor condition and the tractor appears to be complete. I want to be fair with my friend and the tractor was used in their dairy operations for many years in the 40's thru the 60's. My last new JD tractor cost $50000 but I have not collected old JD's but own and operate the newer models in our family farm operations. We are located in central California.

I grew up on a 42 B and have kind of watched their values in the ads and auctions. New tires and a stuck engine could add up to some big bucks that you would not recover on resale but that may not be your intent. My opinion is that its not worth over 500.00 unless you have some personal reason to pay more. Good luck Don
