Hey guys- how common or uncommon is a 1946 A with a rollo-matic front? Looking at one that's available.

My parts book shows the rol-a-matic front end available on serial number 477000 and up. This is a 1939 Model.

Macmillan and Jones, John Deere Tractors and Equipment 1837-1959 (page 156) calls the pressed steel frames, rollo-matic, battery under the seat and choice of gas or two fuel engines '47's. Parts book gives starting serial number 584,000 for the pressed frame, battery under seat, gas engine and split pedestal. 477,000 is given as a starting number of rollomatic.

I don't know about a retrofit. My grandpa has a '46 A with the batter underseat, slantdash and rollomatic!

Just next to a guess, extremely rare to non-existent. I don't think rollo-matic was available until 47 when the gas A, batteries (12v) under the seat model came out. My dad got an A in Nov. of 46, two fuel, industrial (inner tube) air seat as per some DI's, power lift, not powertroland doesnot have the steel frame of later A's. Next A I saw at that dealer was the later model in the winter or spring of 47.If what you are looking at is a 46 with rollo-matic, I would suspect a retrofit.
