I was looking at an older JD 310 backhoe on a local dealers lot. A new hydraulic pump had just been installed. The brakes need bleeding yet, the ps and the backhoe seemed to function properly but at an idle the loader groaned while lifting the bucket, seems slugish, plus all but stalled the engine. Could that from an internal hose blockage or problem with the control valves? there didn't appear to be any major leaks, the machine was cold and it was a new not remaned pump.

find out why the new pump...aere the brakes grinding into the trans. case and contaminating the oil and all they did was replace the pump to hide a deepert problem?...the old 310s have only a 3 cylinder engine and if the idles set a bit low it may stall the engine when operating a function....groaning ???? lack of grease on the loader arms?

Per usual the soga continues. Dealer claimed the trans was ok but loader and backhoe units hardly moved. Showed me the disassembled old pump and it appeared to be badly scored inside. They did bleed the brakes and the pedal comes right up when you start the engine and they do stop and turn. I tried putting the TLB on a small grade and shut the engine off got about three tryes at stopping before the accumulator emptied, however the brakes were noisey and did groan when i pressed hard on them. Imagin you were right about the brake grinding into the trans. As for the loader, it feels like it is starving for fluid and chatters or groans when you open the valve trying to lift the bucket slowely along with lugging the engine. With the new pump i thought it would snap to attention and move right up.

Thanks for your help
